I don't know if it's unusual or not, but I find my later college years to be much more interesting than my early ones. But I'm gonna include everything, so here are a few photo entries from the early days. I think the first photo sums up Freshmen year pretty well. Playing chess while drinking a 40-ouce of something. Kind of an anti-intellectual intellectual. I think I'm still very much like this. On the right is my friend John. We were friends our first year and lived together as Juniors off-campus. I have no idea why he is holding that paraphernalia so don't ask!

The following picture is of my first drum instructor at SU, Mike Stachnik. Stack might be the funniest person I've ever met. Completely unique. As a grad student, he used to pay me (a mere freshmen) fifty bucks and a case of Moosehead to type his papers for him! I really appreciated that he was able to be "friends" with his students. When I instruct college students, I do everything I can to be the same. Some of my best friends are former students.

The next two photos are from my Sophmore year. The first is of Jeff Burger and Steve Lundberg. From day 1, they were probably my best two friends at SU. We lived together senior year and Jeff and I stayed together for grad school. Don't they look tough? The picture on the right is Kim Karschner. We dated most of that year and are still great friends today. She lives in Phoenix.

The highlight of Junior year (and of college) was going to the NCAA Final Four. Below are a few images from that. In the first, me, Jeff, and Pat Monoghan prepare to drive over to the arena in Pat's decked out car. Craig Dentrone was also in the group. The next shot is of us heading into the arena. The third is a photo taken once we were inside.
